Carnival #173

Carnival!

The Carnival of the Mobilists is hosted this week by Tsahi Levent-Levi at VOIP Survivor. The Carnival is a weekly collection of the Web’s best writing on mobile and wireless, hosted and collected by a different site each week. If you are already reading our blog, you should add this collection to your subscription list as well.

There seem to be more posts than usual, or it could just be that they are organized for easier access in neat groupings (e.g. data, devices, advertising). And, to quote Tsahi “this week, when I get to play host, I am happy to say that there is not a single iPhone-related topic, which is refreshing…”

Of course I think that most of all you have to read my post from last week on how variability in device capabilties (and especially display size) is not a challenge to be overcome, but should be core to the philosophical underpinnings of contemporary interactive design. Read the unpredictability is what I like for a better explanation. It comes complete with a bullet list of concepts to keep in mind when designing flexibly, for device classes, and of course with a link to my new book on design process and principles Designing by Drawing: A practical guide to creating usable design.
